Grieving
When death approaches, we may look back on our life and wonder if it was just another dream. (Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth, p. 209)
O Holy One, comfort all who grieve today. Hold them close until they can once again make the choice of life. Then let the dance begin. (Marilyn Morgan King, Daily Guideposts - 2009, 27 May)

Balance
Meditation is to your inner person what digestion is to your body. (Warren W. Wiersbe, Chapter-By-Chapter Bible Commentary, p. 388)
The Word of God and prayer must never be separated if they are we will get out of balance. The better we know the Word the more effectively we will pray, and the more effectively we pray the better we will learn the Word. (Warren W. Wiersbe, Chapter-By-Chapter Bible Commentary, p. 392-93)

Roland George Nelson
Lord, we thank you for the blessing that our friend, Roland George Nelson, was in the lives of so many of us.
"We noticed every minute we were with him, saying to ourselves, 'remember this time.' Now that he is gone, we rejoice in our wisdom and in our deliberate memories." (Molly Fumia, Safe Passage, Day 209) 25/May/2011 10:27

Pray Without Ceasing
Your responsibility is simply to "pray without ceasing," trusting Him to act according to His perfect will. (Billy Graham, Hope For Each Day, 17 April)
The value of persistent prayer is not that He will hear us, but that we will finally hear Him. (William McGill in Believing In Myself, 13 May)
Powerful praying gets powerful results. (Selwyn Hughes, Every Day Light, Day 113)

A Ways To Go
[Prayer] ... is an acknowledgment of our personal helplessness, which has been demonstrated to us often in our efforts to find peace and security. (One Day At A Time in Al-Anon, 2 May)

Archery
Skilled archers will put an arrow in the bow and pull back. They won't release until they feel sure. There's so much more to this simple action than meets the eye. Certainty is essential to scoring the bull's-eye. Now imagine that you are the arrow and God is the archer. Don't ask questions. Don't doubt your place. Don't complain about the strain of being pulled back. God doesn't miss. Faith comes in the waiting. when the release comes you can be sure you'll be heading in the direction where God wants you. It's My Birthday!
Today, on my 72nd birthday, I count my blessings. I've enjoyed a good life with loving and supportive family and friends. I was fortunate to find work in the military and civilian sides of our government that was interesting and mostly satisfying. I've been healthy enough to overcome serious illness.
Let me never forget to be grateful for the good things in my life...

Endurance
... I confess that I find it so hard to endure. (Selwyn Hughes, Every Day Light, Day 88)
"God has given us the faculties by which we are able to bear what comes to pass without being crushed or depressed thereby. Why then do we sit and moan and groan, blind to the Giver, making no acknowledgment to Him, but giving ourselves to complaints?" (Epictetus in One Day At A Time in Al-Anon, 5 May)

When we think of the characteristics of those who were troubling the church at Ephesus we can see that their descendants are still with us. (William Barclay, The Letters to Timothy, p. 37)
