When I am tempted or pressured into irrational behavior, I pray that I may stop and think before I do or say anything whatever. I ask God to remove these impulses and help me to grow into the person I want to be. (One Day At A Time in Al-Anon, 2 January)

Normal Day
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by in quest of some perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow,
or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky and want,
more than all the world your return.

Daily Study Bible Series
Lord, I set apart my mind for You today. ... I set apart every limb of my body and each area of my life unto You as Lord over my life. (Charles R. Swindoll, Wisdom For The Way, p. 364)
Today I finished reading "The Letters to the Galatians and Ephesians," by William Barclay. This 185-page book was in my 2010 reading program. I started reading the book on January 5th 2010 and didn't keep up the pace to finish by the end of the year. I'll start reading, another William Barclay book, "The Letters to Timothy, Titus and Philemon" tomorrow. I forget how many books there are in this set of books called, The Daily Study Bible Series (DSB). I also don't remember if I have all the books in this New Testament compilation. I purchased my copies "used" over a period of years and have slowly been reading the volumes over a period of years.

When You Pray
When you pray ask God to use all of you -- all your talents, all your mind, all your heart. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally. Ask God to use all of you so that no part of your mind, body, and soul will go unused. Ask -- and then listen. (Everything Counts, Steve Case, 1 January)
