Lord of the Storm

Almighty God,
Lord of the storm and of the calm,
of day and night, of life and death,
I pray that You will keep my heart steadfast upon Your faithfulness,
that I may continually see the miraculous in the world around me and
in the changed lives of those who have found the magnificent freedom in following You.
Amen

I ask especially for freedom from self-will, rationalization, and wishful thinking. I pray for the guidance of correct thought and positive action.

Choices

Your creator has given you the ability to make decisions on your own. With that freedom comes the responsibility of living with the consequences of your choices.

Flag Day - 2014

Lord, thank You that I am an American,
born in a land of great diversity.
From sea to pines, from sand to water,
Your creation is awesome to me.
Thank You for the friendliness of Americans.
Their smiles for strangers on the street; their love of new and different things as well as the honor they have for tradition.
You have given a refugee land enough space to be independent and a strong enough government to keep us together.
For this freedom I humbly say, Thank You.

Freedom and Equality

Remind us, Great Healer, that if even one person is enslaved then all are enslaved.
May we work for freedom and equality under the law for all.

Liberty

Lord God, help me to recognize and discern what is not beneficial for me. Help me to see that authentic liberty is being free to do certain things and free not to do others. (Beth Moore, Praying God's Word Day By Day, 8 February) 5 March 2013

Let Freedom Ring

Martin Luther King Day & Inauguration Day

21 January 2013

The freedom of a person is a great thing,
and even the freedom of a nation begins from
the freedom of a single individual.

Veteran's Day - 2012

Lord, thank You for the people who remind us of the tremendous cost the men and women of our military have paid for our freedom. (Debbie Macomber in Daily Guideposts - 2011, 11 November) 11 November 2012

Strive

  • From childhood to death, humans, no matter their lot in life should strive to grow to get closer and closer to the spiritual life.
  • Strive to learn what God wants, and your life will become filled with freedom and joy. (Leo Tolstoy, A Calendar Of Wisdom, 15 October) 22 October 2012
